Passing through town, we were recommended this spot by a local named Terry who said she brings her daughters here for special occasions. We pulled up, and while the building is very modest — no neon or floodlights calling to us — the place was absolutely packed. We parked in the grass, suddenly sure we were in for something authentic. We weren’t wrong. I tried the oxtail with black eyed peas, my better half getting the ribs and mustard greens. All very good. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Looking the place up after the fact I’m fairly certain a couple of the biggest smiles in the joint were the owners themselves. Great place, great service, great people. Check it out if you’re in town! You won’t regret it.
My daughter wanted BBQ for her birthday lunch so we asked some locals where we could get the best BBQ in Thomasville and they suggested Climmie’s. We were so glad we stopped in!! The food was phenomenal and the owners and staff were delightful! It’s the best BBQ I’ve had in a very long time. Ribs were so delicious and fall off the bone tender. The roast was amazing! Excellent portions and the side dishes were so good too! Highly recommend. We will definitely return!
Amazing experience, loved the ribs fried chicken and pot roast. Real deep south experience...great sides . Collared greens great mac and cheese and a multitude of other delicious sides. Walk down the line and pick your sides and entree. Price was good, but the best thing was their people, they made you feel wanted. We were traveling and saw it online. I'd definitely come back
Love this place! Nice people and great food! Soulfood! The line can get long at times but they will have you in and out quickly. I think I've had every dish they offer and all are good! And the desserts are just as good!!!
Yep. This is it. You can go to a chain restaurant, get rib dinners for two, pay 80, and have forgettable food. Or you can go here and pay 30 for food from a guy who knows exactly what he's doing. I had ribs, baked beans, and coleslaw. I'm not familiar with the style of slaw it was kinda spicy but I'd get it again. God Bless America!
The wife and were exploring Georgia, and a search for peach cobbler led me here. A real Americana soul food joint with flair. Friendly people, fast service and outstandingly good food at a great price. The wife had ribs with mustard greens and green beans. She commented on the perfect seasoning and the texture. I tried the fried chicken with mac and cheese and green beans. The chicken was juicy, fell off the bone, and the batter was perfect. That mac and cheese was great also. While we were enjoying our meal in the screened-porch dining room, there was a constant flow of local customers that clearly come often. Do yourself a favor, and find this gem if you want to experience some Georgia soul.
My husband and I visited this wonderful “gem” after googling restaurants in the area and reading the reviews. We were not disappointed! The owner was noticed by me out in the line area greeting his customers who were also in line some he knew some he didn’t. That’s a great sign of good customer service and appreciation of his costumers! He got high points from me right from the start, I didn’t know at that point who he was. (I was hoping he was the owner or a great manager) Once at the counter to order the young lady was kind and helpful by inquiring if onion (allergic) was in what I wanted. The same guy came out to tell me what items were available for me. Once paying for our meal that’s when I saw an article identifying the owner! Now let’s talk about the food........it was fantastic! Perfectly seasoned and the amount received was unheard of these days! We can’t wait to return finally to a restaurant with great food and service as it should be! My husband ate every morsel and I wished I’d ordered a large Mac n cheese and a meal to carry home. The old saying: “Eat where the lines are long and where the locals eat” was proven true on Sunday!!
Amazing! I went with my husband and my in-laws' family; it was our first time there, and we just picked the place to try. My order was barbecue ribs, yellow rice, and smoked chicken salad. Let me tell you, everything was delicious! It is one of the best Southern restaurants I have tasted. The ladies were friendly and the service was nice.
